About TTHTI

An American military hospital during World War II, the institute was handed over to the independent Government of Trinidad and Tobago in 1967. It was subsequently rebuilt in 1971 to become a hotel school in 1972. In 1975 the school received the name Trinidad and Tobago Hotel School.

It was later placed under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, and a Board of Directors was appointed to govern its daily operations. This structural change inspired a name change and the school became known as the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality Training Institute.

In 1996 the institute was renamed into the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute (TTHTI) to better reflect the services offered and the institution’s position within the hospitality and tourism industry.

Located in Chaguaramas in the North-Western peninsula of Trinidad, the institution is currently offering tourism and hospitality programmes from Diploma to Bachelor levels.

TTHTI’s facilities include five tutorial rooms equipped with whiteboards, multimedia projectors and screens – each accommodating up to 35 students. The campus also houses production kitchens, model bedroom, library, auditorium and dining room. TTHTI also runs The Hilltop Restaurant operated by its students.

TTHTI’s students have access to a cafeteria, students’ lounge, courtyard and dormitories. The computer laboratory provides 25 work stations with free internet access. WiFi is available throughout the institution’s premises.

As a student of AIB and TTHTI, you will also benefit from free access to an extensive online library (ProQuest) and complimentary course materials.

Shortly before commencing the course, you will be invited to join a Study Skills Seminar conducted by TTHTI’s staff.

AIB and TTHTI’s dedicated staff will be with you every step of the way while you are undertaking your BBA.
