Hilary Winchester Announced as New Chair of AIB Academic Board

Joining the AIB team this April, we’re delighted to announce the appointment of a new Chair of the Academic Board, Emeritus Professor Hilary Winchester M.A., D.Phil (Oxon.), FAICD.

Professor Winchester brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from her previous positions as Pro-Vice Chancellor with the University of South Australia, and Provost of Central Queensland University. She is a higher education consultant, specialising in Quality Assurance and has also chaired the Academic Boards of two Australian Universities. In 2011, she won the Australian Higher Education Quality Award and is a member of TEQSA’s Register of Experts.

Professor Winchester said she was thrilled to be appointed to the position, which for the past eight years was held by Professor Rod Oxenberry, who has since retired.

“It’s an exciting time to join AIB with the recent developments in programme delivery and interactive online learning advancements. I would like to thank Professor Rod Oxenberry for his leadership and commitment over the past eight years. I look forward to leading the Academic Board into the next stage of growth for AIB.”

Professor Winchester’s appointment follows on from a year of growth and transformation for AIB, with the welcoming of new CEO Paul Wappett in February from Open Universities Australia, and the recent news that Australia’s largest MBA programme has transitioned to a 100% online delivery. Last year also saw Daren McKennay appointed as Chairman of the Board, and key academic leaders from around the world joining AIB as Heads of Discipline.

AIB CEO Paul Wappett said, “We’re thrilled to have Hilary on board with us at AIB. Her extensive knowledge of the higher education sector and regulatory environment is a perfect fit for Australia’s largest and fastest-growing provider of MBAs. Her commitment to and deep experience with innovation in teaching and learning will propel us towards being the most contemporary, student-centric and best value-for-money MBA in the country.”

Welcome, Professor Winchester!
