Welcome to Work-Applied Learning
Work-Applied Learning (or WAL as it is widely known) is the keystone of all that we do at AIB.
You will meet WAL:
In the classroom, where students (most of whom are working in any case) are encouraged to draw on their everyday experience. We recognize the workplace as a living laboratory that offers a wealth of knowledge and understanding. In all of our programmes we help you to make sense of what you see around you, blending theory with practice in a unique way. Learning becomes exciting as well as meaningful.
In our research activities, where projects are rooted in the workplace. Large corporations, government departments, local councils and voluntary bodies have all yielded fascinating findings. Our research is real – using action research including action learning, case research and reflective practice – producing valuable and cutting edge outcomes. We publish our own journal to record some of these many intriguing stories.
In our corporate arm, where executive development and consultancy is also strongly work-applied. Our clients bring to us problems that need to be solved – and the starting point to find solutions is always the workplace itself and the people who work there. Action speaks louder than words and the outcomes are there to see.
In short, you will meet WAL everywhere at AIB, in all that we do. It’s what makes us different in a crowded marketplace, and it’s what our students and clients value most.
