Emeritus Professors
AIB is authorized to award Emeritus Professorships in appropriate cases and according to stringent criteria. To date there have been two such awards, to Dr. Selva Abraham and Dr. Chad Perry.
Research Professors and Fellows
A Research Fellowship Scheme has been established to provide qualified researchers with an infrastructure and support for their research work. Two categories of researchers are involved in this scheme.
The first category, Research Professors, is comprised of recognized authorities in their particular field of research. They provide academic leadership, guidance and support for other researchers.
The second category, Research Fellows, includes highly regarded academics and practitioners in applied management.
The Professors and Fellows together provide supervision and assistance to research degree candidates, with the Research Fellows acting as mentors for new researchers engaged in research qualification programs.
Research Infrastructure
Research in the Institute is further supported in various ways. Research rooms, a library and online data bases are accessible to all Institute students, staff, research professors and fellows.
The Dean of the Institute provides overall guidance and is responsible for the development of research policies. Additionally, the Dean is supported by a Research Manager, who provides the first point of contact for all research degree students and who is also the production manger for the Gibaran Journal of Applied Management.
There is also a committee structure for research, as follows:
Academic Board
This is the prime academic body in the governance of the Institute. It is responsible for the maintenance of appropriate academic standards and the approval of academic policies. All strategic issues related to research policy and delivery are reported to Academic Board.
Research & Higher Degrees Committee
As one of the sub-committees of Academic Board, the Research & Higher Degrees Committee is responsible for monitoring the progression of each research student and for developing appropriate policies. It is also empowered to determine other, related research issues.
Ethics Committee
This is another sub-committee of Academic Board. In line with national protocols, it is required to assess each research proposal to ensure that ethical standards are adhered to.
