5 Minutes with BBA Graduate Matthew Pierre
BBA Graduate Matthew Pierre chose to specialise his studies in Tourism & Hospitality Management. Matthew briefly explains why he chose to do so and how it has been of personal and professional benefit to him.
Why did you decide to study a BBA with AIB?
I had previously completed my Associate Degree in Tourism Management, but I chose to study the AIB BBA specialising in Tourism & Hospitality Management because it was the best programme available in Trinidad and Tobago to further my education in the industry. It was also a fast-tracked degree, which was important to me.
What appealed to you about specialising your BBA in Tourism & Hospitality Management?
I was interested in gaining an understanding into how the tourism & hospitality industry differs around the world. This knowledge has enabled me to adopt an international business mindset and practices that I will carry throughout my career.
Would you attribute your career success to having completed a BBA?
Absolutely! Working in the hospitality industry, the programme has made me more attentive to service-based projects and operations and it has made me think critically and professionally. I always refer to my AIB textbooks as I carry out projects because of the high quality and standard of the subject-related professional knowledge they contain. The BBA was well grounded and very well structured, but still challenging. You can’t grow without a challenge.
