5 Minutes with MBA Graduate Darren Adams

At the AIB Digital Marketing Forum in Melbourne, we spoke with MBA Graduate Darren Adams about how studying with AIB has changed his life.

Can you tell us a bit about your job?

As Head of Digital at Whispir, I look after all the digital assets globally for the business, in particular, looking at how we can generate leads for all of our sales teams right across the globe. Whispir is actually a SaaS-based platform for enterprises and small-medium businesses in order to create conversations to make contact with customers, and also with their internal business organisation.

How the MBA has impacted you professionally?

I think what’s changed for me the most is probably the thought process that I go through. Having all those tools and processes in the back of your head has enabled me to concentrate a lot more on the business and less on my functional role. That’s been a real advantage, and since completing my MBA, I’ve actually been able to quickly transition into the digital marketing world, and that’s included two different promotional steps.

Have you recommended AIB to others or would you?

AIB has actually been so fantastic to me. I’ve spoken to my friends a lot about it, and I’ve actually had a couple of people enquire and say, “How do I actually go about completing that as well, what sort of subjects do you have to go through and what was your experience?”. I’m always happy to tell them.

How has AIB changed your life?

AIB has actually changed my life in quite a few significant ways. One is that it has opened my mind to so many different possibilities. Secondly, it’s probably given me a real structure to the way that I actually approach my career, and also the way that I deal with organisations that I either work for or are planning to grow my career with. And then lastly, it actually has put a sense of inquisitiveness in me, and I actually would love to go on and learn even more with AIB. I’m actually thinking about the DBA, for instance, because it will take me and my career to another level at the same time.
