5 Minutes with MBA Graduate Emily Korir

We recently caught up with MBA Graduate Emily Korir to speak to her about her motivations for completing her MBA and how it has affected her life.

What was your background before starting the MBA?

I am a Human Resources Strategist, however prior to starting my MBA in 2012 I had a stroke, so when I started the course, I had just finished 12 months of rehab. It was a very challenging time, but I wanted to complete my MBA to show that no matter what obstacle you face, if you put your mind to something, you can achieve it. I hope I am an example of that.

How has completing an MBA affected your life?

It has helped me to live what I preach. I wanted to be an example of what resilience looks like and my MBA journey has given me the opportunity to go out into the world and do anything I like.

Why did you choose the AIB MBA over other MBA’s?

Due to my condition, I had to choose a school that was both flexible and practical. AIB was the only school that gave me the option of completing my MBA in 12 months or over 3 years. I knew I had 3 years if I needed the time, but my aim was to complete the MBA in 12 months.

Did you receive any support from AIB staff during the course?

Absolutely, I received great support from AIB, starting from the very first phone call with my Course Advisor, who was was incredibly helpful and supportive throughout my studies.

This article has been constructed by Megan Baker from an AIB video interview. The very best has been done to accurately reflect the thoughts and opinions of the participant.
