Why did you decide to study an MBA?

I studied an MBA to supplement my technical skills. Engineering is all about finding solutions for problems. Those solutions need to be not only technically sound but also suitable in a business context. So, by developing my business understanding, I am able to tailor my solutions to fit the business orientation.

What are the greatest personal and professional benefits you’ve experienced from the MBA so far?

Some of the personal benefits that I have gained from the MBA are softer skills such as time management and pressure management, as well as developing areas outside of my technical skills where I found interest and also found some other skills that I didn’t know I had or have further developed.

Some of the professional advantages of the MBA are the development of the understanding of how the business operation runs, and understanding where I fit within that system so that I can better tailor my performance towards the business operation; as well as, obviously, learning leadership skills in terms of both being a better leader as well as a better follower; and managing relationships up and down the organizational structure.

What were the best aspects of being able to study online?

The best aspects of being able to study online were the fact that I could tailor my studies around my work and personal commitments. So that meant not having to sacrifice a lot of work or career progression in being able to achieve the goal of the MBA.
