About the role

This is a full time, permanent position based in Adelaide, South Australia. As a Lecturer in Marketing and Entrepreneurship, the primary purpose of this position is to support the Australian Institute of Business (AIB) in high-quality scholarly teaching, research, and governance.

The successful candidate will lead efforts to achieve excellence in teaching and learning for the Marketing and Entrepreneurship subjects within the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

This academic role involves providing significant leadership in teaching, research, and the scholarship of teaching through the application of best practices and innovative approaches to teaching methodologies and technologies.

Additionally, the academic will be supported to maintain an active research agenda and participate in service activities for AIB as part of their regular academic responsibilities.

Key accountabilities

Teaching and Curriculum Development

  • Design, plan, coordinate, and deliver inspiring teaching that maximizes a positive student learning experience, particularly in Marketing and Entrepreneurship subjects.
  • Contribute to the planning, evaluation, and enhancement of subject delivery performance – serving in roles such as Subject Coordinator, Subject Custodian, and Discipline Lead as needed.
  • Review, update, and design curricula that attract current and prospective students while fostering creativity and critical thinking.
  • Provide academic support, counselling, and professional advice to students regarding their studies, professional development, and career opportunities.
  • Effectively apply innovations in teaching methods and technologies to achieve best practices in education.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor MBA students in their capstone Project as appropriate.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor research higher degree students as a primary or secondary supervisor.
  • Research and Professional Service
  • Actively participate in AIB’s administrative activities, including serving on committees, advisory boards, working groups, and attending discipline meetings.
  • Develop and maintain a strong research portfolio and profile.
  • Engage in internal and external research events and activities.
  • Lead or significantly contribute to activities related to internal and external compliance and professional accreditation of courses.
  • Maintain up-to-date discipline knowledge and teaching practices through ongoing scholarship and professional development.
  • Establish and maintain a professional profile by engaging with relevant professional associations, conferences, and workshops at local, national, and international levels as appropriate.
  • Actively participate in the AIB academic community through activities such as contributing to newsletters, attending meetings, forums, alumni events, and graduations in Australia and overseas.
  • Engage with different sections of AIB to foster productive internal and external partnerships that promote employment opportunities for students and enhance graduate employability.
  • Undertake any other appropriate and reasonable activities in line with the level of the position or as assigned by line management.

About you

  • Possess undergraduate and/or postgraduate qualifications in an appropriate business-related field.
  • Must have completed a PhD or DBA or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role.
  • Proven expertise in pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practices relevant to the discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently employ learning and teaching approaches that enhance student success.
  • Experience in teaching and learning at the tertiary level within an online environment.
  • Proven excellence in teaching performance at the tertiary level over a sustained period.
  • Demonstrated expertise in subject coordination.
  • Evidence of impactful innovation in learning, teaching delivery, and subject design.
  • Commitment to the scholarship of teaching and professional development in higher education.
  • Application of research and scholarship to enhance teaching practices and the student learning experience.
  • Extensive experience using online learning platforms for teaching purposes.
  • Experience in developing teaching materials for use across a teaching team.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, and industry partners.
  • Higher Education pedagogical principles (including relating to online and distance learning and adult learning)
  • PhD level qualification in Marketing /Entrepreneurship

Online Learning Facilitators (HR/Management & Financial Management)

About the role

Currently we are looking for casual Online Learning Facilitators to provide outstanding teaching experiences for our students in the following subject areas:

  • HR/Management (specifically – strategic Human Resource Management, Organisational Learning and Design, Managing Change, Managing People in a Global Context and Strategic Management)
  • Financial Management and Corporate Governance

An Online Learning Facilitator (OLF) will deliver online classes under the guidance of the Subject Co-ordinator, Director of Academic Operations, or delegate. OLFs will deliver classes using AIB content and assessments. OLFs will provide assistance and support to students in all academic matters relating to the subject, deliver webinars in the subject, mark subject assessments, and provide feedback to students about marked assessment items. OLFs are required to remain up-to-date in their discipline area by participating in professional development. In addition, all Online Facilitators must adhere to AIB standards and protocols.

About you

To be considered you are required to meet the following selection criteria:

  • PhD level qualification in business or business-related discipline; or Masters level qualification in business disciplines PLUS significant relevant professional and/or management experience within the same discipline
  • Experience in teaching subjects in one or more of the above disciplines
  • Experience teaching within the Australian higher education sector; previous online teaching experience is preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the post-graduate level; previous MBA teaching experience is preferred Customer service focus and strong people skills
  • Demonstrated high standard of verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Must have the right to work in Australia
