Assessment

In Procurement and Global Logistics Management, students complete two interlinked assessments to advance their understanding and application of procurement or logistics systems within organisations of familiarity. The first involves preparing and delivering a presentation that assesses the maturity level of an organisation’s procurement or logistics processes and identifies areas for improvement. Building on this analysis, the second assessment involves producing a report outlining how to advance the selected procurement or logistics system to reach the next maturity level. 

One of the most crucial business disciplines of the twenty-first century is Procurement and Global Supply Chain Management. This subject provided me a greater understanding of how this applies to my role as a Procurement Advisor, opening my mind to thinking strategically. It developed my analytical methods and technical skills to improve decision-making with procuring goods and services and understanding the global supply chain market. I was able to improve and adapt these methods and strategies to my work, providing me with better outcomes for our business operations.

What will I learn studying Procurement and Global Logistics Management with AIB? 

You’ll learn how to design and evaluate effective procurement and global logistics systems, with a focus on how systems can be improved in the face of disruption and uncertainty. The subject will take you through all the elements of a logistics network, including customer relationship management, warehousing and packaging and transportation.  

How is the subject structured and delivered?

Procurement and Global Logistics Management is delivered over eight weeks of structured learning where you’ll delve into a new topic each week relevant to procurement, supply chains and logistics management. Weekly online webinars are hosted with your online class and led by Online Learning Facilitators who facilitate interactive discussions on the topics, case studies and application of concepts within organisations. Contribution in live webinars enables you to learn not only from the learning material and facilitator, but from the experiences and viewpoints of fellow professionals studying alongside you. Don’t worry if you can’t make all the live webinars though – they’re recorded, so you can watch at any time. The subject includes two assessments – one due mid-way through the subject and the other at the end. 

Can I specialise my MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management? 

Yes, AIB offers an MBA specialisation in Logistics and Supply Chain Management which delves into contemporary operations, logistics, procurement, international business and supply chain practices, and deepens understanding of the relationship with these functions and other business areas.  

Studying the specialised Logistics and Supply Chain Management MBA, students will take AIB’s core business subjects before undertaking the specialist discipline units: Global Supply Chain Management, International Business and Procurement and Global Logistics Management. Following completion of the final subject – Project – they will earn their MBA specialised in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The specialisation subjects can also be studied as electives by those undertaking the General (unspecialised) MBA.
