Why did you decide to study an MBA?

I decided to study an MBA because I am a lot younger than all of my colleagues and they have the up-hand of having industry experience and a lot of years of business experience, and I just felt like I really needed to up my theoretical knowledge about a lot of the different hats that I was wearing, and an MBA ticked all those boxes.

What were the best aspects of studying online with AIB?

The best aspects of studying online with AIB was the flexibility. I was obviously working, having a family and studying at the same time–which was very interesting. But, if it wasn’t for the flexibility of the online platform it just wouldn’t have happened at all.
So, for an online platform to work with this level of study, you have to be able to feel like you’re in the classroom even when you’re not. And so, that’s what AIB had done really, really well is they made me feel like I was able to be in front of the teacher without physically having to be there, which was great for flexibility around work and family life.

How has the MBA helped with your confidence?

The MBA has helped my confidence in a lot of different ways and a lot of different areas of life. Personally, I think it was a hard thing and I overcame it and succeeded in it, and therefore that gave me a lot of personal confidence in my own intelligence and capability.

Professionally, it’s given me a lot of confidence to work with people that are 10 or 20 years my senior and have a lot more experience. I can now keep up with that to a level, and understand what’s going on. I’m able to select the professionals that we work with a lot better, because I understand from a higher, broader, macro level what their job is and how to manage that.
