Human Resources MBA From AIB Receives Coveted AHRI Accreditation

The Australian Institute of Business (AIB) has become the first private higher education provider to receive accreditation from the Australian HR Institute (AHRI) for a postgraduate HR qualification. AIB’s specialised MBA in Human Resource Management will be formally accredited from January 2019, enabling all students to graduate from the programme with the assurance that their MBA is recognised by industry.

AHRI is the professional association for human resource practitioners in Australia and is tasked with ensuring HR professionals and people managers have the essential prerequisite skills and knowledge required to work in the HR profession.

AHRI goes through a highly rigorous process to ensure the academic integrity of the courses they accredit, which involves mapping course curriculums to AHRI’s respected Model of Excellence.

On AIB’s accreditation, AHRI CEO Lyn Goodear said, “We’re delighted to welcome AIB as an AHRI accredited education provider. Accreditation is an important factor to consider when weighing up study options, and it is our job as an accrediting body to help instil confidence in the education choices of HR practitioners.”

Accreditation is an endorsement that validates the competence, credibility and integrity of a higher education institution and the degrees it offers. When studying an accredited degree, students can trust that the course content, learning outcomes, faculty, delivery and much more are of the highest standard.

The AHRI accreditation will accompany the AIB MBA’s primary accreditation by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), which is the sole government body in Australia authorised to register institutions of higher education.

The AHRI accreditation will benefit all AIB students, not just those who work or wish to work in HR. All who manage staff across every field will experience greater professional recognition and enhanced credibility thanks to the accreditation. Employers and recruiters will look favourably on graduates of the HR MBA as its AHRI accreditation signifies that the learning is practical and relevant to the workplace.  

All HR Academics at AIB are AHRI members and practitioners with industry experience. This sees students learn from experts who not only know the theories back to front but also can speak from an experienced practice point of view. They facilitate AIB’s accredited HR specialist subjects which include Strategic Human Resource Development, Managing People in a Global Context and Managing Change.

Graduates of the AHRI Practising Certification Program (APC) can receive up to 3 subject credits for the AIB MBA. Conversely, AIB MBA HR graduates who have met the necessary work experience requirements will be eligible for direct entry into the Unit 4 Capstone: Applied Project in Organisational Capability of the AHRI Practising Certification (APC) Program. Completion of the Capstone project will award AHRI certification (CPHR).
