Why did you decide to study an MBA?

I started an MBA more so to take the next step in my career. Whilst I had a fair bit of business experience, there were plenty of ups and downs across that business. I figured that studying an MBA would definitely help me improve or increase the amount of ups that we had and decrease the amount of downs.

Would you attribute any of your career success to having done the MBA?

My current career success is absolutely attributed to studying an MBA. As other business leaders realised that I was studying for an MBA, they realised the amount of commitment it takes and that was a solid positive personal attribute. They saw that and were able to offer me other roles that would certainly suit what I had been studying.

You originally commenced an MBA with another provider before transferring to the AIB partway. What was your reason for finishing your MBA with the AIB and how did it compare to the other provider?

I had started with another MBA provider and I found that that other provider was much more academic-oriented. I felt that they wanted me to continue on with being an academic rather than more practical-based. When I had a look at the AIB structure and had it referred to me as well, I felt much more confident that the AIB was going to be much more focused on the practical aspects of business rather than academic. Once I had started, literally the week I had started with AIB, that was reassured in my mind. This is a much more practical MBA.

What were the best aspects of being able to study online with the AIB?

The best aspects of studying online are you can structure your study time around what you want to do and around your life. If we were camping one weekend, I was able to set aside the time that I could go and lock myself away and study, same thing with during the week. Even if we had other time off during the week I was able to lock myself away and do those things.
