5 Minutes with MBA Graduate Jason Martin
At the most recent Graduation Ceremony in Adelaide, AIB MBA graduate Jason Martin spoke with us about his experiences throughout the programme. We discussed everything from balancing study and family life, to how the MBA has changed the way he runs his business.
What appealed to you about studying with AIB?
The decision to study with AIB was due to two reasons. I was set on doing my MBA, and AIB offered a very cost effective way of undertaking the degree which I had wanted to do for a long time. Secondly, I found the method of studying to be very user friendly. I was able to study at times which suited my commitments, and could mould it around both family and work.
How has becoming an MBA graduate changed your life?
Becoming an MBA graduate of AIB has seen me change the way I run my own business. It has enabled me to implement and add strategies to my day-to-day operations. I now have knowledge in areas such as leadership, strategy development, human resource management and more, which has helped me improve my business in those areas.
How was the support from your family during your studies?
Throughout my MBA, my wife was very supportive and my children also understood what was happening along the way. Like anything worthwhile, the MBA required a lot of hours, and I did have to work to balance it around marriage, family, work etc. but it was all possible with the flexibility of the programme.
If you could give one piece of advice to prospective MBA students, what would it be?
I would recommend that they maintain flexibility (in their life), and ensure they allocate enough time to cover all bases throughout the programme.
