5 Minutes with MBA Graduate Murali Kumaran
Murali Kumaran, MBA graduate from the Australian Institute of Business (AIB) discusses his experience with AIB and how the MBA degree has changed his life.
Why did you choose to study with AIB?
When I was looking into studying my MBA I was considering six different higher education providers. Basically, three of them offered it in a 12 to 18 month period which was the biggest selling point for me. The point that really sold me on AIB however was when I met some of the facilitators and faculty – as well as being academics, they were all still professionally working in their field. My discussions with them cemented in the fact that AIB was going to provide me with the most practical and up-to-date qualification, which was ideally what I was looking for.
What was your favourite feature of the AIB MBA?
Of course, a huge benefit of the AIB MBA is the fact I could complete it in 12 months. I was able to fit it in around my already busy lifestyle and schedule. I was married with young children so it really suited me well. I also enjoyed the content of the programme – it was current, we were provided real-life feedback and I was able to apply it to my work.
What was your opinion of the AIB teaching faculty?
All lecturers were specialists in their field. Through the high quality of teaching staff, I was able to get real-time data, information and knowledge from people who were experts in their field. I give credit to all of them as they were all able to share their knowledge and really explain the text in a way that we could then relate it directly to our business and apply it the following day.
Did you engage with fellow students throughout your studies?
Yes – definitely! I really enjoyed the great support from classmates. We were able to bounce ideas off of each other and hear of each other’s experiences. We all came from a completely different field of industry which was great for discussions, assignments and projects as we were able to look at things analytically from very different perspectives. I found the networking a truly invaluable experience.
How has the AIB MBA helped your career?
My career and my business have improved immensely. After undertaking the AIB MBA programme I was even prompted to look at doing further studies – I am currently looking into the AIB DBA. The fact that I now have this MBA in Entrepreneurial Management has meant that I am able to take my business to the next level. It is now a full-time operation for myself and I am also employing people!
