5 Minutes with MBA Graduate Ruchi Ladkani
In our recent interview with MBA graduate Ruchi, she explained how the MBA has helped her professionally, and she shared some advice for those looking to complete the MBA within 12 months like she did.
What motivated you to study an MBA?
I find that there’s a gap of academic interest particularly in my industry, and with the way the world is evolving right now, change is one thing that’s constant. Doing an MBA allows you to be abreast of developments in the business world, and it also enhances your currency in the job market, so that was one of my primary motivations.
How has the MBA helped you in your career?
Having taken this MBA and then doing what I’ve been doing for some time in my role has enhanced my perception of my area of work. It’s enabled me to understand the dynamics and intricacies of different industries that my role ends up servicing. Having done this course, I now am able to understand different industries a lot better; I’m able to understand the challenges, strengths and the robustness of different pillars of business out there.
Having done this course has also enhanced my personal currency in my workplace. When you have something to say with a degree backing you up, you certainly get a lot more clout and a lot more ears listening to you than when you don’t. So there is a level of respect in the recommendations that come through during challenging scenarios at work.
You were able to complete your MBA within 12 months. What advice do you have for others looking to do the same?
My advice would be to stay committed and unwavered towards all other challenges that come your way or could potentially distract you from this within the timeline that you’ve set for yourself. My recommendation would also be to not be daunted by it. When you begin the journey it seems daunting, but the reality is the level of support that’s available through AIB, and the quality of academics that you engage with, makes the journey that much more achievable.
