5 Minutes with MBA Facilitator Paul Moroney
Business owner and MBA facilitator Paul Moroney chatted to us recently about his role with the Australian Institute of Business, and the value of achieving an MBA in an accelerated format.
What is your relationship to AIB?
I’m a previous general manager at EDS Credit Services, but I now run a company called Active Operations Management that helps large organisations improve their operations capability – and in addition to this, I am a facilitator for the Strategic Leadership and Strategic Operational Issues courses in the 12 Month MBA.
You teach our 12 Month MBA via face-to-face learning – what is it like?
Obviously the accelerated MBA classroom is a reasonably intense place to be. We’re covering a lot of theory and practice inside a short period of time. But inside the classroom there’s usually a broad mix of past experiences and ages, which creates a great ‘think tank’ environment for students.
Why should students consider undertaking a 12 Month MBA through AIB?
This MBA is for students who are looking for an MBA level of theory but want to be able to apply it in the real world. If you’ve got the discipline to stick to the programme, then the timetable will get you a well-regarded qualification in 12 months. I know that many people spend a long time within the MBA process and many never finish – but if you’ve got the time to devote over a short duration, you will get a great deal of value from your studies. And you leave with a great body of knowledge that you can apply immediately. It is a different style of learning, but the outcomes we’re seeing show that it’s certainly an effective way of learning.
