With AIB, students have the flexibility to study at the pace that suits them. Accelerating the degree, the MBA can be completed in 14 months.* Studying one course at a time, it will take 2 years. Our students can also space out their study and complete it over a longer period if they wish – the choice is theirs.

What is GCM?

The Graduate Certificate in Management (GCM) is a postgraduate qualification we offer at AIB. It consists of 4 business subjects and can be completed in 8 months. It’s the first of three stages that make up our MBA program. The second stage is the Graduate Diploma in Management (GDM) and after the final stage, you’ve earnt the MBA.

The Graduate Certificate and the Graduate Diploma are located at Level 8 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

What are the assessments like?

The first 11 of 12 courses of the Fast-Track MBA consist of a mix of practical assessments, including assignments, reflective pieces, quizzes and evaluated forum participation. The assessment mix varies from course to course, but all are what we refer to as authentic assessment methods – they’re practical and reflect what’s happening in the workplace.

In the final unit, AIB students complete a work based project – a longer assignment which allows students to focus their research on a specific area of interest from their studies which is applicable to the workplace.

For more information on the MBA curriculum, please visit our MBA program page.

How much work is involved?

We recommend students invest about 20 hours per week in their MBA study. This differs from student to student depending on varying experience levels and academic backgrounds. Also, depending on the appropriateness of your workplace, some of the learning reflection and consolidation can be completed while you work, which reduces the after-hours study required. Because our MBA is delivered fully online, there are a lot of ways that learning can be integrated into your day to day schedule, such as listening to your textbook audio while you cook dinner or watching course topic videos on your commute.

We have created a study time calculator to help potential students plan when they would fit study in to their weekly schedules. Try it here: Study Time Calculator

Our MBA is not accredited by AMBA or EQUIS. We are, however, members of AMBA’s Development Network.

The Australian Institute of Business, like many well-regarded institutions around the world, has chosen not to be accredited by these associations as it is optional. These associations only accredit around 2% of the world’s business schools, which have very specific criteria geared towards on-campus delivery. AIB is a distance learning provider, and like many well-regarded institutions around the world, we have chosen to not apply for the accreditation. To see the full list of our current memberships, please visit our Accreditation, Designation and Memberships page.

Is the Fast-Track MBA equivalent to a Canadian Masters?

If you’ll need to prove equivalency by a local, trusted organization that the Fast-Track MBA is equivalent to a Canadian Masters, our students have shared they’ve done this through WES Canada and IQAS.
