Graduating From AIB
Graduation: it’s the pinnacle of your postgraduate study journey, the moment where you celebrate how far you’ve come alongside your peers and loved ones. It is a once in a lifetime experience and one of the most special days on the AIB calendar.
The below provides a general overview of AIB graduation ceremonies. Please also read our Awards and Graduation Policy and Procedure for more detailed information.
Attending the upcoming Graduation Ceremony
AIB hosts at least one graduation per year in Australia. We’ll announce the date and venue well in advance so you can plan accordingly. Once confirmed, all details for the upcoming ceremony will be available on our dedicated graduation pages:
Please note: While we know many of you are eager to start planning, we strongly recommend that you do not make any travel arrangements until you have secured tickets to the graduation ceremony. Ticket numbers are limited, and you are not guaranteed a ticket simply because you are eligible to graduate. In the unlikely event of changes, or if you’re unable to secure a ticket to the ceremony for any reason, AIB will not be responsible for any travel or accommodation costs incurred by you.
Yes, attendance is not automatic. If you’d like to attend, you must register once the graduation portal is open. Depending on your course completion date, your completion email will either include a registration link or notify you when the portal is live.
Seats are limited, so once open, register early to avoid disappointment.
You’ll be eligible to graduate if you’ve completed all required subjects for your course, your conferral cohort is included in the announced ceremony and you have no outstanding payments, including any payment plan instalments. Eligible cohorts for each ceremony will be advertised once the ceremony is announced.
Once you’ve completed all the subjects required, you will receive an email confirming your eligibility and your next steps in attending graduation.
Please see the Awards and Graduation Policy and Procedure on the AIB website for more detailed information.
Obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Management (GCM) or Graduate Diploma in Management (GDM) award?
If you are applying for a GCM or GDM award as a nested award (i.e. you will be continuing with the program), you are welcome to attend graduation. If you’d like to attend, you must complete the Request for Parchment and/or Transcript form and return it to our Student Central team by the award cut-off date (see AIB Award Approval Cut-off Dates). The links below will also be of interest with regard to the award cut-off date and cost.
If you are applying for a GCM or GDM award as a nested award, please see the Course Completion section of this Student Handbook for addition key information.

We understand that not all students are able to attend a Graduation ceremony therefore we post all award documentation i.e. parchment and transcripts to students shortly after completion of their qualification.
Ahead of each graduation ceremony, students who achieved outstanding academic results in their MBA are commended for their hard work and commitment.
The Dean’s Merit List recognises students who achieve academic results in the top 10% of their graduating class, with a GPA over 6.00, and are in accordance with the Dean’s Merit List and Valedictorian Award Policy and Procedure. The highest-performing student also receives the prestigious Valedictorian Award, signifying their academic excellence. The Dean’s Merit List recipients and Valedictorian Award winners are presented by Graduation Ceremony. See here for the previous winners by graduating cohort.
