Why did you decide to study an MBA?

For a long time, ever since my undergrad, I had wanted to study an MBA. I always saw it as a diverse introduction to the broader world of business–a very good foundation for someone who wanted to develop, further on down the line, some management positions and hopefully towards a director position. The MBA I always saw was the perfect foundation for that.

What were the best aspects of studying online with AIB?

The single greatest aspect of studying online with AIB was the flexibility. Being able to continue working full time and also being able to study and deliver the content for an MBA. The online format was also incredible. Being able to speak with your peers whenever you wanted to and also having all the content at your hands. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

What were your main challenges throughout the MBA journey and how did you overcome them?

The main challenges throughout the MBA journey were, sometimes life does get in the way. In my instance I was involved in a pretty serious car accident and I really thought that would throw my studies out. But AIB, thankfully, were there a hundred percent and they supported me. I couldn’t sit the exam when I needed to and they allowed me to, through the hardship that I was experiencing, they took that on board and they worked with it. They worked with me and I really did not expect that from anyone really, let alone an online institute.

How has the AIB MBA helped you with any type of career progression or career success?

The AIB MBA has come in quite handy on a couple of instances with my career prospects. First of all, when I left my previous role at a different company, it really came in handing having it on my CV.

As I am studying an MBA, I’m also working full time. That really showed a lot of dedication, a lot of commitment and a lot of investment in myself. That’s actually some of the feedback that I got, so that was brilliant.

But then also, once I actually finished my degree, there was a small team in business transformation – a very small team had just started out. I just recently graduated and they thought that I would be a great fit for this. It’s been an absolutely brilliant step up in my career in terms of having the content from the MBA support me in this new role, having the MBA actually flag me as a potential candidate for this role, but then also, just really bring my career to life through something that I enjoy as much as what I’m doing now.
