Why did you decide to study an MBA?

I started the MBA to develop myself professionally as well as to establish or differentiate between myself and everyone else in the consulting pack. There is heavy competition in the consultancy industry. I wanted to do something that would make me stand apart. Doing an MBA was one avenue of doing so. And, to help create a rounding of all the other credentials that I have.

How are you applying the skills you’ve learned from the MBA in your current role?

The way that I’m applying my skills of the MBA is that it is helping me have an edge in consulting. I can see that with the confidence that my current client has in me. There is independent thinking, there’s critical thought that is applied in my work, and the fact that I’m always able and willing to take on any new challenges is probably one of the great beneficiaries of having an MBA.

Would you attribute any of your career success to having done the MBA?

I would attribute some of my successes to having completed an MBA mainly because I now have the confidence myself of knowing that I can begin something and complete it. More so for folks like us that have been away from school for a long time, it is very difficult to get back into the traditional way of seeing yourself going back to school.

This online MBA allowed me to realise that I could actually pursue something, complete it, prosper and succeed in it. I think there’s’ great value that this MBA provides me personally, and then there’s great value as well in providing the professional outcome of the MBA with my clients that I deal with.
