Can you tell us a little bit about your role?

I am a teacher. I teach computer science, business and project management to postgraduate-level students and undergraduate-level students.

Why did you decide to study an MBA?

My Dean, at the time, advised me that to be able to get a full-time employment, it would be important to get a title with Master’s degree and I had a choice of whatever Master degree I wanted to do. And at the time, it appealed to me to look at the AIB because I saw it as an international, agile Master’s of Business Administration. I like the concept that I learned about business, not just from business point of view, but from international perspective.

A lot of students struggle with time commitments and their private lives while studying an MBA. How did you make this work?

I can tell you, I’ve had some challenges medically and personally as a teacher. I weighed the options and I looked back and I tried to think of what did I tell my students – what did I expect from them? And I turned around and said if I can expect them to do it, I should be able to demonstrate it. So, to be a role model, I felt the best way to do is demonstrated not just talk about it.

What about that subject did you feel changed the way that you work?

I like the way that the teacher interacted and gave us tons of resources to keep on top of it. So, while it wasn’t an interactive in-class session, we were able to interact. Being a traditional learner – old person – I can tell you this actually worked for me, regardless of your type of learning.
