Why did you decide to study an MBA?

For me, doing an MBA was not really about a particular promotion or a title. I hadn’t done any study since my undergrad, which was quite a few years ago. I wanted to just give myself some more tools, particularly in the technology space. As we know in business today, technology is ever-present and ever-changing, and I wanted to give myself some more tools in that space.

What were the main challenges throughout the MBA journey and how did you overcome them?

The main challenge was prioritising the time between work and study and family. And also, back when I studied previously, it was mostly pen and paper. And so, studying in an environment that was more technological, that was quite a difficult challenge to overcome. But overcoming it was doable. AIB offered some really good tools with their online platform on how to access different references in journals and publications and things like that. So yeah, it was good.

How has the AIB MBA helped you with any type of career progression or career success so far?

The part of the AIB that I really enjoyed and had an affinity with was the strategic side of it. We have a business at the moment that’s evolving, especially in the oil and gas in Australia. We’re going from a more of a construction phase to a maintenance environment. And that requires different strategies on how to manage the supply chain. So, the strategic side of it was an aspect of the MBA that I really enjoyed, and I’ve been able to take those lessons and how to structure my team and how to structure the supply chain network to evolve us from a construction to a maintenance environment.
