Why did you decide to study an MBA?
I decided to study an MBA because I had done an engineering degree plus a project management degree. At the time I was just looking for that next step which, for me, was having a degree or a certification to run the business–to go the next level. AIB was very appealing for everything they offered at the time, and especially for my life circumstances, being a busy professional.
A lot of students struggle with time commitments and their private lives while studying an MBA. How did you make this work?
The time commitments of studying an MBA can be a challenge, but you’ve just got to leverage off the support network you have around you. You use the time available on flights, after hours; your family are very supportive. And then use your AIB representatives and mentors as well. They’re very helpful.
What were the best aspects of studying online with AIB?
The best aspects of studying online with AIB were that I could fit it in with my busy schedule. So, I can study on the plane, I can study before business meetings and I can study at home on the couch. That’s fantastic.
How has the MBA helped your confidence?
The MBA has helped my confidence in the way that I’m now more methodical in the way I approach problem-solving. I’m a lot cooler and calmer in my investigations and interviews and business meetings.
